Moody Family top ten 3/27

My favorite family ramblings over the past couple of weeks...

10. Matthew: "Hey mom, I know how to prove your brain has more control than your body. You put your body in freezing cold water and stay there no matter how cold it is!" (I guess that's why I keep finding Matthew submerging his head, hands and feet in the sink...I'll have to remind him about his brain-over-body- control when he's a teenager!)

9. Matthew: "Mom, you're lucky you barely have to run any bath water because as soon as you get in, the water gets DEEP!"

8. Mitchell: "SAWEE MOMMY (sorry mommy)"

7. Josh: "I'm convinced my mom is an alien from pluto" (Calvin and Hobbs speaking again)

6. Josh: "Wow, for a mom, you're pretty cool!" (I checked out Josh and Matthew 20 minutes early from school)

5. Matthew: "Mom, Mitchell still doesn't know about his past.... he didn't always drink milk from a sippy cup...!"

4. Me: "Matthew are you really scared or are you trying to get out of bedtime?" Matthew: "Well.......okay, maybe it's 50/50."

5. Mitchell: "OH MY GOODNESS!"

4. Mitchell: (While we sing take me out to the ball game)...."Buy my some pickles and chocolate milk..." No cracker jacks for this boy!

3. Mitchell at Bedtime: "I need my ten kisses."

2. Josh: Has been of few words because he's engrossed in the Gregor the Overlander books. (while he waits for Percy Jackson #3 to come in at the library)

1. Mitchell: "I WUV you mommeeeee"

Some People

SOME PEOPLE

Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

Some people come into our lives
and quickly go... Some stay for awhile
and embrace our silent dreams.

They help us become aware
of the delicate winds of hope...
and we discover within every human spirit
there are wings yearning to fly.

They help our hearts to see that
the only stairway to the stars
is woven with dreams...
and we find ourselves
unafraid to reach high.

They celebrate the true essence
of who we are...
and have faith in all
that we may become.

Some people awaken us
to new and deeper realizations...
for we gain insight
from the passing whisper of their wisdom

Throughout our lives we are sent
precious souls...
meant to share our journey
however brief or lasting their stay
they remind us why we are here.

To learn... to teach... to nurture... to love

Some people come into our lives
to cast a steady light
upon our path and guide our every step
their shining belief in us
helps us to believe in ourselves.

Some people come into our
lives to teach us about love...
The love that rests within ourselves.

Let us reach out to others
and feel the bliss of giving
for love is far richer in action
that it ever is in words.

Some people come into our lives
and they move our souls to sing
and make our spirits dance.

They help us to see that everything on earth
is part of the incredibility of life...
and that it is always there
for us to take of its joy.

Some people come into our lives
and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

Elder Jeffrey R Holland

Last night we had opportunity to be with Elder Jeffrey R. Holland! My parents brothers and sisters were all invited to eat with him before the evening session of my parent's Stake Conference. I have a special place in my heart for Elder Holland. He was so warm and full of the spirit, and he even remembered Caleb!

This song reminds me about his message that God loves broken things:

Bubbles and Planes

Last night I had a cub scout meeting.
I had my boys "settled" in bed before we started.
As the meeting went on I saw bubbles floating down over my banister.
I saw a some paper glide through the air and land by my front door. The meeting ended and I walked the leaders to the door. I picked up a piece of paper that said. "PLEAS READ THE PAPR AIRPLAN" I found the paper airplane and on it was a message that read, "TO MOM. "COM UP AND HLP ME SMOOTH MY BALANKETS"
So I followed the path of bubbles
Up the stairs to the bedroom
and smoothed out blankets and gave the "tightest hug in the world."
It was just what I needed to settle in for the night.

March Madness

For Family home evening we all had fun filling out our Tournament brackets!
I have a feeling that this is going to be MY year to beat Dallan!
I picked Memphis and Pittsburgh for the championship, and as of last night I was 11 & 3. Matthew is bringing up the rear, but he picked BYU to be in the championship. There should be bonus points for true loyalty don't you think?
Who did you pick?

General Conference Packets

I was looking for some fun ideas to keep my boys busy during our upcoming General Conference! Click Here and Here for some great ideas!

Lady Luck

Today I gave Josh and Matthew a shamrock keychain to wear on their belt loops. They light up when you squeeze them. I told them whenever they gave their shamrock a squeeze, they had to remember how lucky I am to be their mom...

My big boys enjoyed their good luck charms
The little boys wore their lepraucon hats
We enjoyed green munchies for snack time
and I enjoyed Springtime walk with a good friend
I am one lucky lady.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This Irish song always reminds me of President Hinckley because it was one of his favorites! Hope you all have a LUCKY day today!

I'm so glad when Daddy comes home

My father gave me the greatest gift anyone could give another person, he believed in me. Jim Valvano

What a catch!

Last year my Brother took Dallan, Josh and Matthew fishing. He just sent me the pictures. Are my boys a catch or what! Josh can finally prove that he "caught one THIS BIG!"

Sunshine

Oh the sunshine feels so good! We had a sweet nurse sit with Caleb for a couple of hours while we took the other boys to the library and to the park. It was so fun to enjoy the sunshine together. Even though they are all coming down with stuffy noses, we still enjoyed breathing the SPRING air!

Count your blessings

Celestial Friends

This past week we have been blessed by visiting angels-
our dear friends Becky & Ben.
Becky and I found each other through our children
who have similar physical challenges.
Even though I live in the West, and she lives in the East,
our hearts are knit together in a way that I can't express with words...
the feelings are a little bit too big, and a little bit too sacred.
Becky and Ben were supposed to fly home today,
but yesterday afternoon, Ben started to struggle with his breathing
and wasn't able to get enough oxygen.
He didn't improve over night, and so Becky has to postpone her trip home
so she can take Ben to the hospital.
My home feels so sweet as their spirit still lingers here....
I can still smell Ben's hair on my shoulder.
It didn't want to say good bye,
but I am so sad that they have to stay under these circumstances.
If you have a quiet moment today,
please say a little prayer for our two visiting angels.
They bring heaven with them wherever they go.
We love you dearly, our sweet celestial friends!

Some people come into our lives and leave footprints on our hearts
and we are never ever the same.

All in a days work...

Mitchell's agenda this past week- the poor little boy works so hard, he should get a raise!

He used a pair of scissors to cut a gaping hole in his shirt.

He colored a delightful design on the computer monitor.

He opened a box of Mac and cheese all by himself and enjoyed eating it dry!

He colored a picture on his belly button and on his back with a ball point pen.

He continually follows me around with a bottle of strawberry syrup and begs for "pink chocolate milk!"

He plays outside for 5 minutes and returns covered from head to toe in MUD!

He threw a baseball over the banister and broke a piece of the chandelier.

He used his booster seat tray as his skate board!

It's all in a 2 year old's days work...!

Baptism Talk

He

Moody Family Top Ten 3/8

A top ten of my favorite quotes over the past few weeks...

10- Josh: "Mom's and reason are like oil and water."

9- Matthew: "Guess what my favorite body part word is... ARMPIT!"

8- Mitchell: "I will do a BYU cougar p**p in the potty!" (Then he cries when the result isn't cougar blue!)

7- Josh: "I think I'll eat some tasty morsels while I do my reading..." as he sneaks off with a box of crackers.

6- Mom: (on our way home from the temple dedication) "Boys do you want to stop at IKEA?" Matthew: "NO WAY, we're in our church clothes and we look like DOPES!"

5- Matthew: (as I help him with his baptism preview talk) "I could have said all of that with a LOT less words!"

4- Josh: "Dad, did you put cornflakes in these scrambled eggs?" Dad: "Josh, you ate it last time and you didn't even notice until I told you." Josh: "But Dad, if someone told you that you were eating BARF, you'd spit it out, even if you didn't notice at first!"

3- Josh: (While trying to catch our rabbit Lu Lu) "Lu Lu, I'm really using my patience..."

2- Josh: "Mom's are drawn to bored-ness!"

1- Mitchell: (at the temple open house when he spots a cougar in the mural) "RA RA RA, GO COUGARS!"

Our Sunday afternoon

"Boys, why are you taking the stool outside." "Oh, just to sit on it..."

"Why is the water running?" "I'm just getting a little bit wet!"

What was my favorite part of the afteroon...guess!

On his way to the baptism preview...

A few pictures from Aubrey's reception

Aubrey and Kyle were in our hearts on their special night!

Aunt Alisa and Uncle John helped watch the little ones that night

It's not a real reception unless the kids have fun exploring the church and enjoy acting silly!

Because I still cry when I hear his voice...

I showed this story to our boys tonight, and they were captivated...Hearing President Hinckley speak still brings tears to my eyes...

Matthew's last words

Our conversation as I tucked Matthew in tonight:
Matthew: Did you know that I grew a third of an inch in one night? I was having a huge growing pain all over my body....but..... it was worth it to GROW!
Me: Wow!
Matthew: Did you know I lost 5 pounds last month?
Me: How?
Matthew: Oh, probably from playing less video games!
Me (in my mind): If less video games is all it takes... Sign me up for that diet plan!
