October top 10

I love October!
Some of our favorite Moody Memories this month were:

10- General Conference:
9- Our 12th anniversary (smooch smooch!)
8- Evenings at the cabin
7- Trip to Boo Country
6-Halloween art with Matthew's class
5- A little Halloween party with Mitchell
4- Witches night out at Gardner village
3- Caramel apples, caramel corn, roasted almonds....
2- Movies in the basement
1- Halloween! BOO!

Goose Bumps

My boys love to get "creeped out."  So, they were super excited to find some Goose Bump movies at the library. Minutes after returning home popcorn started popping and blankets were gathered! As soon as they had a bowl full of buttery goodness, they hollered "NOW DOWN TO THE BASEMENT!"

Because a movie is twice as creepy in the unfinished haunted part of the house!

YIKES!

Hero

Tonight Matthew was asking Dallan about what he wears to work.
The conversation went something like this:

Matthew: So if I were to throw on a BYU shirt and some tan pants, would that work?
Dallan: Why?
Me: He probably wants to dress up like you for Halloween.
Dallan: Hey Matthew, you should dress up like Bronco Mendenall!
Matthew: It's not for Halloween Dad.  Tomorrow is "dress like a hero" day at school.  You're the hero.

Cabin Fever

My parents recently purchased a cabin in a canyon less than a half hour away from us! It has been such a blessing to our family. Going the canyon together has been challenging since we had Caleb, but now we have a place where we can explore, find treasures, swing on rope swings and be all together in the mountains!
Thank you for sharing your bit of heaven with us Mom and Dad.

Conference Weekend

Frosting Halloween cookies with cousins

Swinging with Caleb

Snuggles and songs from Papa.

And, the weekend wouldn't have been complete without a round of....
Celestial Pursuit- a Moody family tradition!

We enjoyed being with our Moody family and were touched by the inspired council we received.
My favorite quote from general conference:
"To live with gratitude in our hearts is to touch heaven."

Lunch date with Dad

One of Mitchell's favorite things to do is visit Dad at work!
He loves to see all of the football helmets.
He loves the big cougar statue.
He loves the big picture of Cosmo,
And most of all
He loves eating lunch with Dad!

A Pizza Poem

Josh came up with this little ditty after school yesterday.
Any idea what he wanted for dinner?

De Pizza I wanna,
De sooner de Pizza, de more happy I am
De Later de pizza, de madder I am
So de liver de pizza, de day named tomorrow,
De bigger de Pizza, de less you will hurt
De pizza must have de olives and cheese
De pizza must be pepperoni please.
De pizza de baker must be Dominoes
De closer de place de sooner de getter.
So de pizza must be de best kind around
De sooner de better, so don't hang around.
De size of de pizza must be extra large
De smaller de box, de madder I get
De pizza must have at least 75 friends
De less pizza quantity de lonlier de pizza
SO GIMME!

A shark's tale

Someone around here is getting really excited about Halloween!
He knew this was the costume he wanted from the moment he laid eyes on it!

And he's worn it every day since!

Good old play dough

I love that all of my boys still get a kick out of good old play dough!
(Even when Mr. 8 year old still tries to get away with eating it)

Tractor Time

I have the best family.
It's not just because many of them showed up on their labor day holiday to help us get our yard ready for hydro s
eed.
It's not just because my brother jumped in our window wells to clean out the trash and debris that had blown in.
It's not just because my dad drove his vintage tractor with the harrow attached to make our dirt as soft as baking powder.
It's just because that's the kind of people they are.
I am so lucky.

My Dad is one in a million. He has 10 children, a busy church calling and a full time job, yet he always finds ways to show us that we're important to him.

I hope the smile he had on his face means he loves putting on his farmer hat and finding an excuse to drive his trusty tractor :)

Especially if it's for his favorite Oldest daughter, right Dad?

Have you looked into the sky lately?

Heaven doesn't seem so far away in times like this.

The question of the day

Can you guess what this little beauty is....?

It's been a work in progress all summer long.

It's Matthew's gum wad that he's been adding to for many months.

This past week, we had a little memorial as Matthew gave it one last chew.
We all said good bye to the
lovely green gum wad
We thanked it for some happy summer days.
Then into the trash it went.
The top of Matthew's dresser will never be the same.

When Mitchell grows up

The other day, Mitchell was helping the Backyards Inc. men set up the "make a wish" playset. They asked him what he wanted to be when he grows up.
He said, "I want to be a paleontologist and study dinosaurs... and temples..."
love it.
