My oldest son Josh turned 12 this week! He'll be ordained a deacon on Sunday! I am so proud to be Josh's mom; he has such a tender soul. He has always been a cautious, kind, and incredibly smart boy.
It takes a lot of courage for Josh to try new things. Because he's the oldest, he often has to be extra brave since he is the first to start new activities.
Josh loves to read, experiment and invent. He creates his own board games, writes hilarious stories and comic books, and is a really talented artist. He is a wonderful big brother. He tells Mitchell stories at night and lets him crawl into bed with him when he's scared. Mitchell even threw up all over him one night and Josh reacted so sweetly. He rarely loses his patience and he is a sweet peace maker. His little cousins also adore him because he always takes the time to play with them when they come to visit.
Josh was really really hoping for the new Legend of Zelda game for his birthday. I don't know if I've ever seen him so excited for a gift before!
I checked him out from school to take him out for his birthday lunch. He chose to go to an all- you- can- eat restaurant so he could have all of his favorite things! On the way back to school we stopped at the store to get the wii remote he needed to play his new game. He couldn't stop smiling.
Josh chose a score bar cake for the third year in a row! For his birthday dinner he chose chicken and mashed potatoes, raspberry jello with nothing in it, rolls and cooked carrots.
He loved having Grandma, Grandpa, John and Alisa join us for dinner. We all took turns telling him what we love about him, then grandma read him a special birthday poem she wrote for him. You can read it here. It was just perfect for my little boy who sometimes needs a little bit of extra courage.
I love you with all of my heart Josh.
Thank you for being YOU. I am so blessed to be your mom.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
