There's no place like home!

Caleb doesn't have any ruby slippers, but our wish was granted... He's coming home today!
Caleb has had quite an adventure at the hospital this past week. He had a nissin G tube procedure that was more complicated than we thought, had 2 collapsed lungs as a result of surgery, had chest tubes placed to drain the fluid, had chipmunk cheeks as a result of bad IV's and had an allergic reaction to some medicine...He got his chest tubes taken out yesterday, and his lungs look good! He's tolerating his feedings well, and I've finished g tube training. So we're preparing to be home by this evening! Caleb will still be recovering for quite a few weeks, but what better place to heal than his own cozy room, his own comfy bed, and his own family and friends to snuggle him? There's definitely no place like home! You can read more about his hospital stay and see photos on his website. Just click on his picture on my side bar.

Holy Cow. April, I have the deepest respect for you. I don't know how you can emotionally handle all that he has gone through and still be a fabulous mom to 3 other kids. I am SO glad that he is coming home to all those who love him so much and I pray that he has no complications whatsoever.

I saw your entry on seriouslysoblessed and actually served in Spain at the same time as Lori. You are such an inspiration in so many ways! So full of strength and hope. I am glad that surgery went well and pray that Caleb continues to recover. I just started compiling stories for a book of how our children bless us in unexpected but marvelous ways. It has been a very inspired and humbling experience thus far. If you are interested in contributing I know countless people could learn from your family and little Caleb. There is more about it on our blog. We recently had a son born stillborn who reminds me of Caleb in many ways. He too was born with one eye winking at us. All our love.

April, I just found your blog while searching other blogs for research/inspiration for my mommy blog, DagmarBleasdale.com, and you are surely an inspiration. I cried when I read Caleb's story. It makes me realize once again how blessed I am with a healthy boy, 2 years old. Landon fell on his mouth a few days ago, cut his frenulum and one of his teeth is a little lose. I was so worried about him. He is going to be fine, and I am so blessed that he is, you on the other hand have so many more worries I can't imagine bearing. Know that you will be in my thoughts every time I think I have a tough day. Love, Dagmar
