Don't worry, I like grass!

A little while ago, a dear friend of mine had a new baby. I was excited to have a chance to bring dinner to a friend who has brought me more meals than I can count. I put a chicken pie in the oven, and got the rolls ready. When the pie came out of the oven, it looked beautiful! It was golden brown and flaky...almost perfect.... I was feeling good as I gathered the food and went to deliver it.
I walked toward her door with the the chicken pie in one hand and the rolls in the other. Just as I was about to reach the porch, the pie started tipping, and in slow motion it - flew- through - the -air - and landed face down on the grass. I knocked on the door, and her husband, our bishop, answered. "Um...I dropped your dinner on the grass..."
Immediately all 5 children ran out and surrounded the pie blob. The bishop joined us with a serving spoon in hand. "Bishop, would you like to say a few words?" I asked as we stood in a moment of mourning. We started scooping what we could into a serving dish trying to avoid the freshly cut grass clippings. One of those sweet children looked in my eyes and said, "Don't worry Sister Moody, I like grass!"
I think in my blundering attempts to be more like the Savior, he often gives me that same reassurance. My presentation isn't always perfect, but I know that he accepts my offerings even when they don't turn out the way I hoped. "Don't worry, I like grass"

Sensitive

I have 4 boys. They don't really understand how to match their clothes. Even my husband double checks with me in the morning to make sure he's color coordinated. My little boys really don't care what clothes they wear, they just like how their clothes feel! In the summer I just let them wear whatever they want to, but when school starts I try to set an outfit out for them to wear. This presents a problem. I spend the month before school purchasing great new outfits and shoes for them to wear. I carefully lay their new outfits out the night before, yet somehow, they mysteriously appear in the morning wearing something completely different. They revert back to their worn in extra loved play clothes. "Why aren't you wearing what I left out for you?" "That shirt was way too itchy... I will not wear collars, they are way too stiff....those shorts rub my belly button..." "What about your new shoes" "I just like these so much better, they are way more comfortable" "But don't you remember how you begged for these shoes at the store, those shoes are getting holes in them..." "But I just forgot just how comfy these are!"
So, I guess I need to rub their new clothes in some dirt and wash them 50 times before they will enjoy wearing them to school. I guess there's worse things than being extra sensitive to how things feel..." this toothpaste is too spicy on my tongue....This yogurt has CHUNKS in it...My bedspread is too heavy on one side...I can feel your tickley breath on me.."
Maybe this means that someday they'll turn into sensitive young men!
