Fall Break
A trip to the movies on a week day?
Mom isn't as strict about video games?
A trip to the library to load up the book box?
A dollar store stop to pick up prizes for everyone?
We all get to go to the BYU football game?
It must be FALL BREAK!
Matthew's favorite part of the game? Frozen lemonade.
Mitchell's favorite part? Daddy's lap.
Josh's favorite part? His Buddy Sam who can sometimes talk him into putting his book down.
My favorite part? Sitting in front of my brother Jacob and listening to his commentary (plus he shared his drink!)
Oh and we all loved a great big WIN for the cougars!!

Together Day
Dallan and I recently celebrated our 13 year anniversary! In those 13 years we haven't ever left our boys over night or even for a full day unless we've been in the hospital. I thought it was time for us to have a together day! I arranged for two nurses to sit with Caleb, and Amy and Aden offered to help with the other boys so we could spend the whole day together!
We went to the temple together and did sealings
Went out to lunch at Sparks
Did some shopping (Our boys were losing sleep because they were so excited The Son of Neptune had been released so we picked them up a copy!)
Went to a movie
Got dinner at Zupas
Then did the grocery shopping on our way home
I just loved having Dallan all to myself for a whole day!

Matthew's talk on prayer
(Written by Matthew for a talk in Primary)
This is the scripture and prayer that was basically the start of this church.
Hello every one I’m Matthew Moody. I’m here to talk about prayer and communication with God. I’d like to share a scripture with you. James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and is shall given him.
Joseph Smith read this scripture. He wanted to know what church to join. He went to the sacred grove to pray. Heavenly father and Jesus came to him. They told him not to join any.
One time our bunny got lost. We couldn’t find her. Then we said a prayer. A little bit later our home teachers found her.
I’d like to bear my testimony that I know the church is true that Joseph Smith is a true prophet and that we can communicate with Heavenly Father through prayer. Amen.

Pinewood Derby: The Shark
When Matthew was a baby, Josh nick named him "The Shark" because Matthew would sneakily crawl across the floor to his special things and chew on them! The nick name stuck hence,
"The Shark" pinewood derby car!

Evenings at the Park
For the past several weekends I've packed up the boys and we've headed to various parks in our area. These golden autumn evenings have warmed my heart.

Pumpkin Patch Miracle
Mitchell was really looking forward to his preschool trip to the pumpkin patch this week, and was quite disappointed when he woke up to rain. As I was getting ready, Mitchell came to me and said, "Mom I said two prayers and asked Heavenly Father to help the rain stop- and it did! I just love making miracles..."

Josh's talk on Prayer
(Written by Josh for a talk in primary)
Prayer is a reverent communication between God and me. In the Book of Mormon, Enos prayed for days and nights. He gained remission of his sins and was promised salvation for the Lamanites. This was done through prayer.
Another example of prayer is Joseph Smith. He prayed for an answer of what church to go to and Heavenly Father and Jesus came to him. Now when we pray, Heavenly Father and Jesus might not come down from heaven, but our prayers are always answered.
Six years ago when my brother Caleb was born, doctors said he wouldn't live for more than two weeks. We all prayed and prayed that Caleb's body would be strong. How he's still alive, and he's lived for about 178 times longer than they thought.
Prayer is talking directly to God. How he always answers prayers, but "no" is an answer too. Sometimes he waits for a while before he answers so we can learn something. I bear my testimony that prayer is true. I know because my prayers are answered. I know that the church is true and that President Monson is a prophet.

September Moments
Some just because pictures of my favorite September moments.
Because change is in the air.
Because change is in the air.
Because the path is doable with Dad.
Because I love the sunshine in his hair.
Because nature seems to know something is coming.
Because September strolls have been magical
and silly
Because a hidden ant hole is a little boy's treasure.
Because he wanted to see if he was camouflaged.
Because my mom makes me happy.
Because I love her this much!
Because a single drop can radiate forever.
Because little sisters are the best!
September has drifted away, and October has arrived with a whiff of Fall in the air!
Welcome!!!

An Unexpected Gift
I am the oldest of 10 children. I loved growing up in a big family. My brothers and sisters are my dearest friends.
My little brother John was born when I was in college. He was born when I really was old enough to be his mother. I'd come home after a busy day at BYU, rock him and think to myself he could be mine. I could see myself as a mother as I gazed into the eyes of my little brother. My youngest sister Alisa was born just two days before my oldest son, Josh. After he was born, Josh had to spend some time in the NICU. I was having some complications and couldn't leave my room so I was really aching to hold my baby boy. I'll never forget my Dad walking into my room and seeing my tears said, "Oh honey, do you want to hold Alisa?" Holding Alisa held me over until I could be with my little Josh.
John and Alisa have been such a gift to me.
The blessing of a little brother and sister came with an unexpected gift. I never expected they would be my children's best friends. John is the big brother they sometimes need. Alisa knows just how to make them smile when they've had a hard day. This summer they've worked on a club house, made lemonade stands, biked back and forth from house to house, and gone to "man camp." They've made huts at the cabin, had sleepovers, game nights and movie nights. They are making the sweetest memories together. I never expected that.
Thank you Mom and Dad
for having the courage to have these two.
You gave me a precious brother and sister.
And you gave me something I didn't expect-
my children's best friends.
I love you John and Alisa
With all of my heart.
