Baths

I love baths. When I was a little girl, I used to get all of the caps off the shampoo, conditioner and body wash. I'd pour a bit in each cap, make concoctions and add dashes of water and pinches of soap- I even narrated with my Julia Child voice.
I'd stay in the bath for as long as I could. I loved how my hair was so swirly in the water, and I loved how my voice sounded like an opera star as it resonated through the porcelain. I'd relax until my toes were crinkly and the water was cold!
Bath time isn't always so relaxing now. Matthew used to think it was funny to sneak outside when I was in the tub. I had to chase him down the street more than once in my robe. Mitchell loves it when I take a bath because he shares his whole basket of toys with me. After a few minutes of rubber duckie rapid fire, I'm ready to get out.
There are, however, those quite moments when I get in the tub incognito. I curl up like a pretzel so that I can fit. I sit in there until my toes start to wrinkle and the water starts to chill. I hum a little opera, and I can almost hear Julia Child when I reach for the shampoo. I love baths!

OOOh, I agree! Baths are the best, but they just aren't the same when you are trying to keep your little ones from falling in head first with their clothes on!

I LOVE the way you are so descriptive in your writing. Such a fun read. I too am a BIG fan of the bath. Interesting that you should write about this very topic as I encouraged my 13 yr. old to take a bath instead of a shower yesterday. (now that our bathroom is finally fixed, we can take baths - it's been over 3 years) I told her to get her book and she looked at me like I had three heads. I've introduced her now to the adult world of baths, where you get to read and relax. She's totally hooked! She too finally came out when the water was cold and her toes were wrinkly. LOVE IT!

I am glad to read that somebody else played "cooking" in their bathtub as a child. My sister and I would play for as long as we could get away with! :)

I loved baths, too. One time I fell asleep in the tub. I had one of those pillows behind my head and I was soooo comfortable. Now I just shower because I don't think I could crawl out of the tub. Yet, I might try it again. We have a clawfoot tub, so I can grab on to the edge to help me out. Sounds like a great idea. Thanks.
